- Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon. After he graduated in Medicine in 2000, he completed his ophthalmic surgical training at the Sagrat Cor University Hospital-Catalan Retina Institute in Barcelona-Spain.

- Dr. Almuhtaseb has participated as a Principal Investigator and Sub-investigator in multiple Clinical Trials, published papers in his field of interest and attended and presented at multiple conferences. He has also been awarded for publications and presentations of projects in ophthalmology research.

- One of the few in the state of Qatar performing micro-incisional vitreoretinal surgery including the latest small gauge (27G Pars Plana Vitrectomy) to treat retinal detachment, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, diabetic eye disease and eye trauma repair.
- Highly experienced in the management of cataract surgery complications, including secondary IOL insertion using for example the novel Carlevale IOL with excellent outcomes.
- Micro-incisional cataract surgery for simple, phaco-refractive, and complex cataracts.
- Excellent experience in macular hole surgery, retinal detachment surgery, epiretinal membrane surgery, eye trauma repair and diabetic eye disease surgical management.

Brief Profile
At the Barraquer University Institute-Autonomous University of Barcelona, he completed a Master degree in “Pathologies and Surgery of the Macula, Vitreous and Retina”.
In 2014, he moved to the UK where he undertook five years of senior Medical Retina and Vitreoretinal Surgical fellowship training at Southampton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Southern UK, and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in the cosmopolitan city of Manchester.
Dr. Almuhtaseb has been working as a substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist in the NHS and the Private Sector in the UK in addition to having served as the Medical Lead at PPG (Private Sector) before joining The View Hospital in 2022.
