Brief Profile
Professor Ahmad Muneer Otri is currently serving as a Senior Consultant in Ophthalmology at The View Hospital in Qatar. He specializes in Glaucoma and Cataract surgeries and has been in the field since 2002, with extensive medical and surgical training in the UK. He is also a Clinical Professor in Surgery at Qatar University.
Prof. Muneer graduated from the medical school of the University of Aleppo, Syria, and completed his core Ophthalmology training at Damascus University Hospital. In 2007, he moved to the UK to pursue a PhD and a clinical research fellowship in Cornea and anterior segment diseases at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham.
He also completed an honorary fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at Birmingham Eye Centre and later joined the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire as a Specialty Doctor. In 2019, Dr. Muneer undertook the prestigious Queens Medical Centre Glaucoma fellowship, focusing on modern and minimally invasive surgical and laser techniques. He was subsequently appointed as a Glaucoma Consultant at the same hospital.
Prof. Muneer was nominated for The World-Class Colleague Award in 2021 and 2022, and for the Outstanding Service and Care Award in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 at Coventry University Hospital. He has 27 publications in peer-reviewed journals, with five as the first author.
At The View Hospital, Dr. Muneer provides comprehensive eye care including General Ophthalmology, Cataract surgery, and full-spectrum Glaucoma management.
